Orlando, FL - Talon Simulations teamed up with Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of military training and simulation software, to demonstrate their VBS3 software integrated with the Atomic A3 virtual reality motion simulator during the 2016 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC).

The team at Talon Simulations worked with the software team at BISim to extract the acceleration forces from VBS3 and output them in real time to the motion simulator to create a realistic and immersive experience. VBS3 is the standard in game-based, desktop simulation for tactical training and mission rehearsal, and is by far the most widely used complex simulation software among Western militaries today.

During I/ITSEC, attendees were able to experience a scenario where they could be the driver of a U.S. Army Stryker combat vehicle or operate the gunner station, all while wearing a virtual reality headset.

“The Atomic A3 motion simulators integrated nicely with VBS3 and the Oculus Rift CV1 for our Stryker demo, and our team of developers were able to set them up quickly,” said Otakar Nieder, senior director of development for BISim. “The configuration parameters were easy to modify, so we could find a balance between realism and Hollywood. In addition, the simulators are equipped with wheels, which made them easy to transport to the conference center.”

Using innovative, patented technology, the Atomic A3 produces high-fidelity motion detail and powerful accelerations to provide a realistic simulation experience. The A3 is designed and manufactured by UK based firm Atomic Motion Systems.  It is adjustable for different size users, adaptable to different vehicle simulations including planes, trucks, and fighter jets, and affordable, making these experiences more accessible to greater audiences. With the novel integration of a virtual reality headset, Talon is providing the most immersive and realistic experience at the best price.
